More than anything, I want the wine to be authentic to the terroir. By authentic, I mean that it should be true to the vineyard and true to me as the caretaker of the vines and maker of the wine. I want the vines to be nurtured as organically as possible by maintaining healthy, lively soils and a complex, balanced ecosystem. I believe that these elements come together to provide grapes with unique character that represent the potential of the vineyard.
I believe that the other part of terroir are resources, people involved, and vineyard management that have come together serendipitously to create the wine. That is why I am not ashamed to add shells and manure (resources available), collaborate, work and study with wine friends (people involved), and continue to improve and experiment (vineyard management). I trust in nature and the natural process to create a wine that has soul. I hope that those who drink my wine will enjoy it and be left with a pleasant impression.
